Hello and welcome to my first blog post.

My idea is that this first post is to introduce myself and tell you a little of my story, and how I start to do the work I am doing today.

My name is Guacira, I was born in South of Brazil. In a city called Porto Alegre, which means “Happy Port.” The city is near a very big lake called Rio Guaiba. I came from a big family, with a lot of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Brazilians are very affectionate, so touch is common and people are comfortable being touched. In my family, massage was pretty popular and I was a very spoiled little girl, since received a lot of back rub and foot massage from my grandmother, my eldest aunt, and my mother. Growing up I never dreamt of working with massage or any other bodywork, much less when I moved to the US.

I was a veterinarian and worked with small animals in internal medicine and surgery. I was a healer in the animal world and loved what I did. Then in 2001 I came to the US for an internship in Orthopedic surgery with a high specialist veterinary hospital in Pennsylvania. After three years in PA I decided to change my career and shift my area of work to people. First I went to massage school, then to Reflexology School and finally for Watsu School. I moved to Oregon and opened a beautiful wellness center with an amazing indoor Watsu pool. In Oregon I offered many different kinds of bodywork.

During this time, my clients would experience powerful emotional releases. This led them to ask for emotional counseling and support. I started to notice how deep is the connection of our emotional body and our physical body, one needs the other in harmony to work well and for the person be fully happy and pain free. I have always studied Psychology, personal growth and spirituality and have studied with many extraordinary mentors. This was when I was introduced to Shamanism. I started to apply my knowledge in these areas to my bodywork and this was the way my work transformed into what it is today.

I help people to listen to their bodies, to get in touch with themselves and be able to feel and understand their own person. All of it comes from a sincere wish to help people to heal and be happy in a no judgmental environment where pain is just the first step to opening up for a better life.

My medical background blended with my bodywork training and my spiritual studies gave birth to what I do today. I love to see people start to smile again and take control over their bodies and their lives and I know it is all possible when we decide to give ourselves a chance to start to love ourselves again.

Nice to meet you! My name is Guacira and this is my work story. And I would love to help you too, if you feel that my work speaks to you give me a call and I will be happy to schedule an introductory session with you to see how I can help.
